Learn everything you can about the pigments in your choice of media. Watercolor, Oils, Gouache, Pastels, Color Pencils, etc. . The pigment character transfers to all medium. Watercolor really shows pigment character simply because all you do is add a sugar for a binder and water to the paint. This will help you design.

Sister Ellis,
I really appreciate you posting your lessons online so I can keep improving and learning even after I've graduated, thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do that.
I have been having so much difficulty with clouds and I constantly look at your work for references, I remember you giving a demo in class once and have wished many times since that I had recorded it! Maybe someday you might post a video of your cloud technique? I'd love that!
Thanks so much again sister Ellis, you're amazing!
